  • The charger must be installed by an OZEV approved installer
  • Your EV Charging Point must be located within your designated off-street parking area.
  • The charger must use smart technology
  • You must have either purchased, leased or become the named, primary user of an eligible electric vehicle for at least 6 months.

What is the process for buying and installing an EV Charging point?

Initially, one of our team members will visit your home or site at a convenient time to carry out the survey. This free service gives us all the information we need to plan your installation. Your advisor will talk you through the suitable products available as well as suggesting the best place to install your charge points.

While we do the initial assessment we will also take a few details for the OZEV grant application process.

Following our site visit we will submit our quotation. Once signed off, we will send a team out to install your vehicle charge points. Our electric car charger installation are carried out with BS7671 wiring regulations and IET Best Practice Guidance.s

Once installed we will make sure your charge point is working efficiently and even offer ongoing maintenance checks to ensure the longevity and safety of your charge point.

What is the ideal location for installing an EV Charging Point

As a guide these are the 8 factors you need to take into account for your home charging point.

1.     Your O&E EV Charger needs fixing to a permanent structure  such as a brick or plastered wall.

2.     Your EV Charging Point must be located within your designated off-street parking area.

3.     The EV Charging  Point must be within 6 meters from your consumer unit.

4.     Your consumer unit must be RCD Protected and have a spare way for our charge point circuit.

5.     Standard installation requires that the EV Charging Point cannot be more than  6ft above ground.

6.     The cable will be surface mounted and clipped directly back to the surface and it cannot form a potential trip hazard.

  1. If we are required to drill through walls, they are no thicker than 500mm.
  2. We cannot run the cable under floorboards or through ducting/ceiling voids/wall voids, or if the floorboards have not been lifted.  We can’t take responsibility for reinstating flooring or other building materials after the cable has been laid.

Most plug-in vehicles qualify for the OZEV grant. However, plug-in hybrid vehicles are only eligible for the grant when calculated at 50g/km. We can guide you through all the paperwork and even submit the forms on your behalf taking all the  stress away.
